    Vintage Printing Equipment

I used this Trumax Graphoscreen exposure/vacuum unit to expose an emulsioned silkscreen so that I could print my new cat paisley design. The equipment is so old that I could not find any information about it on the internet. The vacuum part of the unit no longer works so the image (on acetate film) is held down by placing piles of books onto it. First we attached the acetate to the glass with tape. We exposed the screen for 10minutes. #trumax #vacuum #silkscreen #cat #screenp

    Popular Print Colours

Black and white is by far the most popular colour combo for my rat design. I received orders for 3 cushions yesterday so today i was back in the print room screenprinting the fabric. It's very enjoyable when the printing is successful. Tomorrow i will collect the prints, iron them to fix the inks and then sew them and send them out. Someone in Bristol ordered two! good taste. #screenprint #design #fabric #handmade #rat

It's nice enough when your friends buy your hand-made cushions as Christmas presents but even nicer when they photograph the cushions when they arrive home, post pics on Facebook and comment how pleased they are with their purchases. Thanks to Rene Nugent-Foster and Helen Burrows for these pics. The design is called The Butterfly Collector. #butterflycollector #cushion #screenprint #homefurnishing

Rats and butterflies in the ancient priory

I really enjoyed the Victorian Christmas craft fair held at the Prittlewell Priory (Southend-on-sea, Essex, UK), founded my monks in the 12th century (that's the priory, not the craft fair). I sold lots of my rat and butterfly screenprints including new prints with silver ink. It was great to see my university pal, textile expert Steven Bakewell and partner who drove down from London with friends. It was my first ever craft fair so was very useful to meet the organisers and a

    My First Craft Fair

Looking forward to showing and selling my Paisley Power cushions at the Victorian Christmas and Craft Fair at Prittlewell Priory Museum, in my town Southend-on-Sea tomorrow. Thanks to Beatriz who has been helping for the last few weeks screenprinting lots of my print designs onto fabric. We printed on a wide variety of high quality fabrics in an array of colours, which means that each cushion is unique. #cushion #screenprint #handmade #craftfairpatrickmoriartysouthendprittlew
