One of the services I provide to clients is reviving vintage fabrics. Yesterday a new client delivered a piece of vintage fabric they had bought in South Africa and I recreated it so that they can have yards of fabric printed for their fashion project. I can’t show you that fabric yet, but a few years ago I was asked to create a new design based on a vintage kimono that had been found in a charity shop. The client wanted a crane included in the design so I had to draw a crane to suit the Japanese floral pattern. Here are some pics of the original kimono, and 2 of the finished fashion garments; a strap vest with matching shorts. The new garments were part of a summer collection for the popular fashion brand.
